London's New Year's Day parade: marching bands, cheerleaders, dancers and borough floats winding 2.2 miles through the West End from Piccadilly, down Regent Street St James's and Pall Mall, past Trafalgar Square and Whitehall to Parliament Square. Free to watch standing anywhere along the route — the crowds are lightest at the Piccadilly and Green Park end, where the performers set off. Grandstand and VIP seats are sold separately.
